Training Workshop: Caring for Persons with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Reach out for support and help for yourself

If you are a caregiver for someone suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), it is likely you will need some support and help for yourself. Over time, as a caregiver, you will feel overwhelmed and it is important to maintain your connections and support among your family, friends and the community. 

Sign up for our training workshop where you will learn more about OCD and related disorders and treatments.  Come and share your experiences and concerns with other caregivers.

 

Content:

  • A brief overview of OCD and related disorders and their treatment.
  • The role of caregivers in the support and treatment of OCD sufferers.
  • "Dos" and "Don'ts" for caregivers: what is helpful and what is not?
  •  Caregiver rights and protection.
  • How to promote good outcomes of exposure and response prevention in the home environment: intervening where the OCD "lives".
  • Questions from the audience: concerns, practical advice, sharing of experiences.

Target Audience:

Caregivers of OCD sufferers.

 

Trainer Profile:

Elna Yadin, Ph.D., is on the clinical faculty at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania.  She has extensive experience in the treatment of anxiety, PTSD, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. In addition, she has presented trainings in the treatment of those disorders, including Prolonged Exposure (PE) for PTSD in adults and youth.  Dr. Yadin has participated in research studies disseminating treatment for PTSD in active duty and veteran personnel, civilian victims, and in children and adolescents.
